Aye, we gathered under the Naked Lady statue, carried the Shovel Flag with us and set off on our weekly reconnaissance of center city Charlotte.
Jog to First Presbyterian lawn for warmup CoP: SSH, flutter kicks, mountain climbers, Imperial Walkers, squats
(OBT’s leadership was interrupted when he spotted a Solo Practitioner doing pushups on the steps in front of the Carillon Building, across Tryon Street, and ran over to put the EH on him. He joined the group and said his name was John McKeever.)
Jog to Mint Street, lunge/bear crawl/crab walk the block between Trade and 4th Street.
Jog to corner of Mint and MLK Blvd. Backwards run, then Serge Zwickers to the lawn in front of the Mint Street parking deck, across from Bank of America Stadium. (We picked up a second on-the-fly EH during this segment — a new record for one workout, a Welshman who was immediately named Burton by Dredd.)
Push-o-Rama: Merkins to 16, Wide-Arms to 12, Diamonds to 8, Stagger Right to 6, Stagger Left to 6.
Short plank-o-rama, including Makhtar N’diayes to 10.
Sprint to top of exterior Mint parking deck stairs, 10 burpees.
Sprint to other end of parking deck, mosey back.
Jog to The Green for 6MoM: Flutters; Rosalita; High, Slow Flutters; Low-litas; Superman; Freddy Mercurys.
Jog to Stagecoach Plaza for Stink-o-Rama: Mountain Climbers; Peter Parkers; Parker Peters; Rock-Hoppers; Stump-Jumpers.
Jog to Giant Bronze Revolving Disk for Leg-o-Rama: People’s Chair; Squats; Travis McGees (R and L); Partner Squats; Partner Calf Raises (wash, rise, repeat a couple of times).
Spreadsheets from the Gloom:
_ YHC managed to smoke himself so thoroughly in the first 25 minutes of the workout that he had to hand off to Dredd a couple of minutes early. Once
finished the 10 burpees at the top of the Mint deck, had nothing left. Thanks to Dredd for picking up the dropped baton with his usual aplomb.
_ T-claps to the FNGs who submitted to the on-the-fly EH. Both dropped out before the CoT, but both were encouraged to join us in the future at 0650 at the Naked Lady statue (I’m just realizing now that, of course, we won’t be there this Saturday because of The Goat … hmmm ).
_ Please be sure to get the word out to anyone you know who lives downtown that Jungle is a great way to kick off the weekend and a great way to see parts of the center city in a whole new light (i.e. flat on your back). We’re also continually surprised by how many folks are out and about at such an early hour downtown.
