The Launch of F3/Dads

As a relatively new dad, I always perk up when prayers are lifted in our COTs to “be good fathers.”  This almost-daily reminder has had me thinking of ways to incorporate our kids, to some degree, into F3.

The result: F3/Dads, a weekly convergence at Freedom Park for F3 men and our 2.whatevers.  F3/Dads is a Saturday 0930 -1030 “workout” running through the summer.  The Thang will be fun and team oriented and will always incorporate the three F’s.  Since our 2.pax are all different ages, activities will be flexible.  Think of F3/Dads as a downPLAYment on the weekend.  Check the Preblast each week for a sneak peak into The Thang, and meet at The Train at 0920 ready to roll.

I remember how excited I got as a kid when my dad came outside after work for a quick game of hoops, and I believe we need to promote and foster those experiences. Plus, we need to show the 2.pax we’ve still got it.  See you in the Gloom.

  1. Boone, this is fantastic. I noticed above that there is no gender reference. Are we opening this up to our daughters?

    • Absolutely. As of now, that’s all I’ve got.

      • Aye, me too. I’m IN even though this is neither stupid nor pointless, which are my usual Threshold Volunteer Criteria.

Freeze tag, capture the flag, high and seek, sounds like fun!

  3. girardif3

high = hide … don’t want our kids getting high in the park just yet.

  4. The Jet

Ideal age? 3.5 too young? Girls?

    • Boys and girls of all ages are welcome. My 18-month old daughter will be there.

  5. Gnarly Goat

We had an F3 Dads at Isotope a while back. Good time! Kickball is ideal… all ages and co-ed.

  6. Little John

    Excellent idea!

We’ve been running a “Daddy Boot Camp” at our household with the same exercises from regular F3 workouts. You’d be surprised how many of the exercises six-years old can do and enjoy (Bear crawls, little-baby crunches, plank, peoples chair). They also love the COT where they tell their name, their “Daddy boot-camp” name and age, and get recognition for their workout.

Count the Little John 2.x’s in this summer

  7. Just a heads up, F3/Dads launches NEXT Saturday, June 23. Email is out to Q’s with that but didn’t make it clear here. For those of you who show up tomorrow anyway, have fun without me.

  8. American Pie

Fan-freaking-tastic idea. See you in July… part of being Dad in summer means schedule-o-rama, no?

  9. Great idea! Looking forward to bringing my 2.0 (6) and 2.1 (4)

  10. Will be there with my two girls, post Cherokee and post first coffee. Rising 4th grader (age 9) and rising 6th grader (age 11).
