The Conversation: A Call for Coders

Aye, this worked so well with the e-store that we’re going to try it again:

Your website team (American Pie, Sweeper Boy and OBT) are looking for F3 Nation citizens who want to give back by helping with the coding for v2.0 of the F3 Nation website.  In particular, we’re looking for people with experience in creating templated design for off-the-shelf CMS architecture.  We are testing a handful of CMS platforms now, but if you have a favorite, please let us know when you shout back.

We have a limited budget to pay for the work but obviously would love it if you’re able to donate some of your time as a gift to the Nation.

To raise your hand, please email trwhitmire@gmail.com, charles.r.price@bankofamerica.com and jason.silverstein@me.com.

Thanks,
OBT

Understanding there is *no* perfect Content Management System, the WordPress installation we are on is unlikely to continue. The new CMSes being considered: Joomla, Expression Engine, Movable Type, and possibly Drupal. If you have specific experience with one of these, please also include your opinions.

    Thanks,

  2. I can help with tweaking stuff in general. Personally I am not familiar with any of those systems, but have had to help fix bugs in them for various clients over the years.

One thing that might be interesting is: https://posterous.com/. It is a blogging/social space. They just got bought about 2 months ago, so I am not sure of the direction the company is taking.

I would be glad to offer my help as well. I don’t do much UI stuff, mainly server side java development, but once you pick a tool I’d be glad to get up to speed on it and help where I can. I’ve been doing software development and system admin stuff for almost 30 years now (Lord, am I that old?) so hopefully I can contribute in some way.
